Game mechanics

How the systems in Pokémon Dusk Reborn actually work, in plain words. Each page summarizes one of the team's official guides and links to the full version.

The tables on this page are generated from the game's data and refreshed about once an hour. Maintained by the Pokémon Dusk Reborn team. Spotted a mistake? Tell us in #bugs-and-errors on Discord.

Getting started: your first dayThe opening takes a few minutes and teaches the controls. After that the game is yours to steer.Battles, Gyms and trainingYou do not need the rarest Pokémon to start. You need a healthy lead, useful moves and a couple of teammates you can switch to.Finding items on the mapWalking around can uncover more than wild Pokémon. Here is what the map checks and what the two handheld tools do.Berry Garden and EstateA home gives you Water Collection slots and, depending on the property, Berry Garden plots for a steady growing loop.Fishing ContestFishing is a scoring contest. You never receive the fish into your Box, and every new cast replaces your old score, even when it is worse.ClansClans are player-run groups: a shared space to battle, trade and grow together.Safari Zone and the MissingNo secretMost of the Safari Zone is a preserve where you meet wild Pokémon. The old building hides a secret, and this page keeps it behind a spoiler box.Currencies: cash, coins, BP and gemsDusk Reborn runs on five currencies. They are not interchangeable, so it helps to know which one a shop wants before you save up.Legendary Pokemon: how to find and catchLegendary Pokémon are the one thing in the game with a hard gate: all 48 Gym badges and a Legend Ball.Dark Alley: what the trainer tradesThe Dark Alley is a back-street trader that swaps coins, clan credits and spare items for things you cannot buy at Mart Co..Wishing Well: payouts and rulesEvery trainer has a Wishing Well link. When someone else makes a wish at yours, coins drop into your well.Common questions from new playersThese questions come up again and again in the forums and in chat. The prices and rules in the answers were checked against the game on 5 November 2026. Prices change, so if one looks different in the game, the game is right. How to evolve Pokemon in Dusk RebornReaching the right level only unlocks an evolution. You still have to open the Evolve Pokémon page and confirm it yourself.Crafting and egg incubationA craft can fail, and a failed craft still spends every ingredient. Check what you have before you press the button.Duskmine mining: routes, levels and streaksDuskmine is a click-to-dig gatherer. You pick a route, spend Energy and get one random reward per click.Status conditions: what each one doesThe battle engine has five status conditions. A Pokémon can only have one at a time, and the one it already has blocks the others until it is cured or wears off.Shiny and Colored PokemonDusk Reborn has Shiny Pokémon plus eight cosmetic Colored variants. Here is what they are and how to get one.Rankings, daily awards and the Hall of FameThere are three different things: lifetime rankings that never reset, daily awards that reset every day, and the Hall of Fame where completed results are posted.Experience and levels explainedDusk Reborn tracks four different levels. Most confusion about experience comes from mixing them up, so start here.Daily rewards and coins checklistSome coin sources are free and daily, some are contests you may not win, and some are one-off rewards. Treat only the first group as steady income.Trading and the Auction HouseTrading is one of the best ways to grow a collection, but slow down for the final confirmation. Check both sides before you accept. How to catch a Pokemon in Dusk RebornLower the wild Pokémon's HP without knocking it out, throw a ball from your Backpack, then look for the catch in your Box.Your team and Pokemon BoxYour team is the six Pokémon across the top of the game. Every other Pokémon you own is safe in the Box.Haunted Ground: the free daily fightOne button, once a day, and a random prize. The only thing to decide is whether you remember to press it.Caterpie's Bug Hunt ContestThe Bug Hunt is a scoring contest like the Fishing Contest. Read one warning first: every new catch replaces your old score, even when the new one is worse.Held items and equipping itemsSome items do nothing from your Backpack. They have to be equipped to one of four slots on you, the trainer, before they work.Hitdown: the first three to hit winHitdown is a race, not a skill game. Three players per round win coins and cash, and every press costs a coin whether you win or not.Spin the Wheel: one free spin a dayOne free spin a day. Each spin lands on one of five prizes with the same chance, and the picture of the wheel has nothing to do with the result.50/50 Game: bets, races and oddsThe 50/50 Game is a board where players bet against each other. A bet you post cannot be taken back, and a Pokémon you race can be lost.Oak's Collection Center: daily tasksProfessor Oak asks you to hand over a few Pokémon of one species. In return you get cash and coins, up to five tasks a day.Changing moves and using TMsMost moves cost nothing to change. Only a short list of strong moves needs a TM, and a TM works on any Pokémon you own.Slots: payouts and real oddsSlots costs 5 coins a spin. Every payout and its odds are fixed, and over time the game returns about 95 coins for every 100 you put in.Flip Coin and High Low: the real oddsFlip Coin is not a 50/50 game, and High Low is only worth playing if you pick by the card you can see.Hangman, Scrambler and Unown CollectorThree word games in the Games Corner that pay in Battle Points. The Scrambler is free, Hangman can cost you, and the Unown Collector asks for a full set of Unown.Auction House: limits, bids and messagesYou cannot set a starting price, every bid is taken from your coins straight away, and a late bid adds 15 minutes. Here are the exact rules.Moving around the mapWalk with the on-screen arrows, the arrow keys or W, A, S and D. The Location line under the map tells you exactly where you are.
