How to Play Pokemon Dusk Reborn

Create a Trainer, choose your first Pokemon and follow the opening Trainer Journey. It teaches the battle, catching and team controls you will use throughout the game. After that, the direction is yours.

1. Choose your first Pokemon

After registration, Professor Oak introduces the available starters. Choose the Pokemon you want to begin with; it is added to the first slot of your active team.

2. Learn the battle controls

Your first Trainer battle introduces moves, HP and the battle log. Select a move to attack. The Backpack is used for battle items, while Switch lets you change Pokemon after your team grows.

3. Catch a wild Pokemon

Move through the grass on the first map until a wild Pokemon appears. Lower its HP without knocking it out, open Backpack, choose a Poke Ball and press Use Item. A successful catch is placed in your Pokemon collection.

Read the detailed catching guide.

4. Build your active team

The Pokemon Box holds your collection. Move a caught Pokemon into an empty active slot when you want it available in battles. The Pokemon in slot one leads your team.

Learn about the Pokemon Box and team slots.

5. Win your first regular Trainer battle

The opening Journey points you toward an easy regular Trainer after the catching lesson. This confirms that you can explore, manage a team and battle outside the tutorial.

6. Choose what sounds fun next

Work through Gym badges, hunt rare Pokemon, trade with other players, visit Games Corner, buy an estate and grow Berries, join a clan or take part in current events. You do not have to follow one fixed route.

See every major game feature, browse the Pokedex, or check the FAQ.
