Play Pokemon Online for Free
Pokemon Dusk Reborn is a Pokemon game you play online, with other people, in your browser. It's free, there's nothing to install, and we've kept it running since 2016. Make a Trainer, pick a starter and you're on the map.
Not sure yet? Here's how a first session goes, or just create a free Trainer.
You're not playing alone
Other players are walking the same maps as you. Tap one to see their profile, challenge them to a battle or offer a trade. Trades, the Auction House and player battles are all between actual people, and there's in-game chat, clans and leaderboards for anyone who likes to compare.
Free, and nothing to download
It runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer, phone or tablet. No emulator, no ROM, no installer. Your Trainer and collection are saved to your account, so you can log in from another device and carry on. If you play on a phone, the browser game page explains how that works.
What there is to do
- Catch Pokemon on the maps and put together a team of up to six.
- Battle Gym Leaders (there are 48 Gym badges on the main path), other Trainers and other players.
- Trade with another player, or put a Pokemon up in the Auction House.
- Join a clan and chat with the people in it.
- Take a break with fishing, mining, achievements or Games Corner.
The features page goes through all of it, and the guides cover the details.
What's going on right now
We're in the middle of the Halloween event (last updated 31 October 2026). The Old Witch hands out daily missions for candies: win a few battles, beat one of the event witches, go trick or treating on other trainers' profile pages. Candies buy chests in the Witch Shop, and the Midnight Chest alone holds 12 Pokemon. Every account with a verified email also gets a free Witch Mystery Box.
Some other things we shipped this month:
- Full-screen map mode for phones and tablets. Here's how it works.
- Fairer slots in Games Corner, plus more jackpots.
- An easier way to manage and remove your own listings on the Item Market.
Next up is The Whisperwind Signal, a new story area with a Team Rocket radio mystery. It's in invite-only testing at the moment and we haven't set a public date. If you'd rather dig into the game first, the forum guides cover things like the NPC trainers that give one-time bonus rewards (beat Zapmolcuno and one of your Pokemon learns Fly) and how clans work.
Getting started
- Create a free account.
- Pick your first Pokemon and work through the opening Trainer Journey. It shows you how battles and catching work.
- Walk around a map, catch something, and say hi to whoever is nearby. Most of us hang out in the forums and on Discord too.
Questions people ask
Can I really play for free?
Yes. The Shop sells optional supporter items that help pay for hosting, but you don't need any of them to play.
Is it an MMORPG?
More or less. It's one shared online world where players battle, trade, chat and join clans. The features page has the full list.
Do I have to download anything?
No. Open the site in a browser and log in.
Is this an official Pokemon game?
No. It's a fan project and has nothing to do with Nintendo, Creatures Inc. or Game Freak.
