Where to start

Open the Dusk Mines page. The top panel shows how many times you have mined, your Mining Level, your Energy and your streak. Below it are three route cards. Press the button on a card to make one dig.

A cave collapse still costs the Energy and counts as a dig, and it resets your streak. Ancient Depths also has a 0.5% chance on every dig that does not collapse to hit a jackpot chamber worth 5 Kohinoor.

Mining Level

Your Mining Level rises by 1 for every 75 digs you make, successful or not, so level 5 needs 300 digs and level 10 needs 675. It is separate from Pokémon level, Trainer Level and Play Level (see experience and levels). From Mining Level 8 each Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz find can be 1 larger at the top of its range, and from Mining Level 15 cash finds are 25% bigger.

Streaks, empty digs and collapses

Consecutive digs that actually reward something (Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, Kohinoor, a Fossil, cash or coins) build a streak. Each streak step adds 5% to Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz and cash amounts, up to 10 steps, which is 50%. A cave collapse, an empty dig or a scare breaks the streak back to zero, and the streak does not carry over between sessions. For example, if four digs in a row reward something and the fifth comes up empty, your streak goes back to zero and the next reward starts it again from one.

Running out of Energy

A dig needs the full Energy cost of its route. With 100 Energy you can make 50 Gem Tunnel digs, 25 Crystal Cavern digs or 16 Ancient Depths digs. If you are short, the game says you do not have enough energy for that route and nothing changes. Mining also has a short pause between digs, so very rapid clicking gets a "mining too quickly" message.

What the materials are for

Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz and Fossils, plus coins, are spent in the Crafting Area. The whole recipe, the real odds and the incubator steps are on crafting and egg incubation. Kohinoor is the rarest find and comes from the Crystal Cavern and Ancient Depths.
