Getting started: your first day

The opening takes a few minutes and teaches the controls. After that the game is yours to steer.

1. Pick your first Pokémon and trainer look.
2. Follow Professor Oak into the battle against Ash and choose a move each turn.
3. Collect Oak's field kit after the win. It holds the Poke Balls for your first catch.
4. Explore Black Forest, battle a wild Pokémon and throw a ball from your Backpack.
5. Open your Pokémon Box and add the catch to your team.
6. Take on Scout Liam to finish the opening Trainer Journey.

The Trainer Journey remembers where you are, so you can stop at any step and come back later.

What to do after the tutorial

• Catch and collect: explore the maps and build teams around Pokémon you like.
• Battle and train: work through the 48 Gym badges. See battles and gyms.
• Trade: direct trades, the Auction House and Wonder Trade. See trading.
• Build an estate: grow Berries at home. See the Berry Garden.
• Play side activities: the Games Corner, fishing, bug hunting and mining.
• Meet players: join a clan, use the forums or chat on Discord.

There is no perfect first team and no single right route. Pick a goal you care about and build from there.
