Fishing Contest
Fishing is a scoring contest. You never receive the fish into your Box, and every new cast replaces your old score, even when it is worse.
How to enter
- Open the Games Corner and choose Fishing Contest.
- Under Select Rod, tick Old Rod, Good Rod or Super Rod.
- Press Unleash Rod. The game picks a Water or Ice type Pokémon, scores it and submits the score to today's contest.

- The note about scores being replaced and rods cracking.
- Select Rod: choose Old Rod, Good Rod or Super Rod.
- Unleash Rod: makes one cast and submits it.
What you need
One rod in your Backpack: Old Rod, Good Rod or Super Rod. Casting costs no coins and no energy. Choosing a rod you do not own gives "You can't fish with a Old Rod if you don't have one!" and nothing happens. You also have to press the button from the page you just loaded; an old page can say "Your fishing request expired. Please try again." Reload and press it again.
How the score is made
Each cast rolls a random Water or Ice type Pokémon from the same pool for every rod. Its HP, Attack, Defense and Speed are added up and multiplied by a number that depends on the rod (65 for the Old Rod, 78 for the Good Rod, 91 for the Super Rod, plus a little randomness). The game then picks a random score between about a quarter and the whole of that figure and adds 25 to 145. A better rod therefore raises both the typical score and the top of the range.
Every cast replaces your last score
Your contest score is the latest cast, not the best one. Your personal best is stored separately, but the daily ranking uses your latest score. If you are already near the top, casting again is a gamble that can only help if you beat the score you have now. Worked example: a Super Rod cast gives you 41,200 and you are second. Casting again and getting 33,900 replaces it, and you may drop below third.
Prizes
| Place | Prize |
|---|---|
| 1st | 1 gem, 1,250 coins and $3,000,000 |
| 2nd | 500 coins and $2,000,000 |
| 3rd | 100 coins and $1,000,000 |
The top three at the end of the day are paid after the daily reset, so check back the next day. The contest is limited to one account per player.
Cracked rods
Every cast has a small chance to crack your rod. The rod is removed, the cast counts for nothing and the game says the rod cracked. Keep a spare if you plan to cast many times.
