How to get a task

Open Oak's Collection Center from the Games Corner and press Receive your collection Task!. The game then shows one task: a Pokémon, how many Oak wants, and a minimum level.

  2. How many tasks you have completed so far.
  3. The reward is cash and coins. The amount stays hidden until you finish.

What the task asks for

  • The species comes from the wild Pokémon of a random map, so it is usually something you can find in the wild.
  • Oak asks for 1 to 7 of them, each number equally likely.
  • The minimum level shown is 5, or 6 to 7 when Oak only wants a single Pokémon.

You can only hold one task at a time, and you can't drop it. The page shows the same task every time you open it until you finish it, so catch them before you press Complete Task!. The Pokémon have to be in your Box, not on your team.

Only donate Pokémon you are happy to lose. You do not choose which of your matching Pokémon Oak takes. If you own several of that species, any of them can be the one that goes.

What you get

Finishing a task pays both:

  • Cash: a random $10,000 to $250,000.
  • Coins: 21 to 86 coins from a random roll (rounded up), plus 10 more for every Pokémon Oak asked for. A one-Pokémon task pays 32 to 96 coins and a seven-Pokémon task pays 92 to 156.

The cash and coins are paid as soon as you complete the task, and your Total Collection Completed counter goes up by one. Asking for more Pokémon only adds a small coin bonus, so a one-Pokémon task is the cheapest way to earn the same cash.

The daily limit

You can complete 5 tasks a day. After the fifth, Oak says you have done enough tasks today and to come back tomorrow. The count resets with the daily reset.

Is it worth it?

Cash is the bigger part of the reward: up to $250,000, against at most 156 coins. Species that live on common maps are the easiest to collect, and spare Pokémon you would otherwise release are the best ones to give away. See catching Pokémon for how to find them and daily rewards and coins for the rest of the daily routine.
