Morty: Johto Gym leader

Morty is the fourth Gym leader in Johto. Beating this leader earns the Fog Badge. The team has 4 Pokémon at level 150 to 165.

How to beat Morty

  • Types that hit the team hard: Dark hits 4 of 4, Ghost hits 4 of 4, Psychic hits 4 of 4, Ground hits 4 of 4 for double damage or more.
  • Types that take the least from its moves: out of 13 damaging moves on the team: Normal (immune to 4, none hit for double); Dark (resists 8, none hit for double); Steel (resists 5, none hit for double).

Morty's levels never change, so the fight is the same for every player. If it is too hard, train up, change your moves to hit the types above, or swap a better matchup into the lead slot. Heal your team before you start. See status conditions for what poison, burn and sleep do mid-fight.

Before you go

  • Buy a ticket to Johto at the Airport for $2,000,000. The Airport only sells it once you hold all 8 Kanto badges.
  • You can fight any of the eight Johto leaders first. The badge is only given on your first win against Morty.
