Norman is the fifth Gym leader in Hoenn. Beating this leader earns the Balance Badge. The team has 4 Pokémon at level 260 to 275.

How to beat Norman

  • Types that hit the team hard: Fighting hits 4 of 4 for double damage or more.
  • Types that take the least from its moves: out of 16 damaging moves on the team: Ghost (immune to 12, none hit for double); Steel (resists 16, none hit for double); Rock (resists 12, none hit for double).

Norman's levels never change, so the fight is the same for every player. If it is too hard, train up, change your moves to hit the types above, or swap a better matchup into the lead slot. Heal your team before you start. See status conditions for what poison, burn and sleep do mid-fight.

Before you go

  • Buy a ticket to Hoenn at the Airport for $5,000,000. The Airport only sells it once you hold all 8 Johto badges.
  • You can fight any of the eight Hoenn leaders first. The badge is only given on your first win against Norman.
