Safari Zone and the MissingNo Secret

Most of the Safari Zone is exactly what it looks like: a preserve where you can explore and meet wild Pokemon. The old building hides something stranger.

Getting inside

You do not need an item to enter the Safari Zone or its first room. Walk to the building entrance on the map and step through the door.

The sealed north door is different. It only responds while your Trainer is currently based in Fuchsia City. If you came from somewhere else, the door tells you why it will not open instead of silently blocking you.

What is beyond the sealed door?



The hidden area is unstable. Its discovery checks lead to Missingno. rather than the Safari Zone's normal Pokemon.

Missingno. cannot be caught. Do not waste a special Ball: the battle stops the throw before a Ball is consumed. Defeat Missingno. and its data disintegrates, leaving behind an Odd Key.

What does the Odd Key unlock?

The Odd Key is consumed when you use it, so choose where it matters most:

• Enter the hidden Unown Tower from the Battle Towers page.
• Open a Therian Chest from your Inventory.

You can find another key later, but one key will not open both. Missingno. is built as a boss encounter for your team, not a Pokemon to add to your Box.

Quick route: Safari Zone building -> first room -> be based in Fuchsia City -> sealed north door -> glitch area -> defeat Missingno. -> choose how to spend the Odd Key.
