Pokemon Team and Box

Your team is the group of Pokemon shown across the top of the game. Your Box holds the rest of your collection. Nothing in the Box is lost. It is simply not in the current battle team.

How the six slots work

• Slot 1 is your lead Pokemon and enters battle first.
• Slots 2 to 6 give you more choices when you switch.
• Fill slots in order instead of leaving a gap.
• Send a Pokemon back to the Box whenever you want to make room.

Adding a caught Pokemon

Open the Pokemon Box, find the Pokemon and place it in the next open slot. During the opening Journey, the Box shows a simple button for the Pokemon you just caught.

Why order matters

Put the Pokemon you want to lead or train in slot 1. The rest of the team should give you options against different Pokemon types. You do not need a perfect competitive team on day one. Try different combinations and keep the Pokemon you enjoy using.

Before trading or auctioning

Pokemon offered through direct trade or the Auction House must be in the Box, not your active team. Check the Pokemon, its level and any held item before you confirm an exchange.
